Comet C/2023 A3 Tsuchinshan-ATLAS (Oct 2024)

Comet C/2023 A3 Tsuchinshan-ATLAS (Oct 2024) is a naked eye object in the sky right now as it has started its journey back to the outer solar system. The comet's tail is more than 10 degrees long and does show two-tails configuration.

Below are some photos I took on October 13th. The stray lights made it harder to get longer exposure to capture the tail completely.

According to NASA, the inbound orbital period of this comet is over 1.4 billion years! If that is correct, this comet started its journey towards the Sun, and Earth, just as multicellular life was starting on this planet!
